WHO Technical Advisory Group on Embedding Ethics in Health and Climate Change Policy: report of the second meeting, Geneva, Switzerland, 6-7 May 2024
Overview
The World Health Organization recognizes climate change as the biggest health threat facing humanity. In furtherance of its mandate of “articulating ethical and evidence-based policy options”, WHO’s Health Ethics and Governance Unit has established a dedicated workstream on climate change, health and ethics. The Technical Advisory Group on Embedding Ethics in Health and Climate Change Policy (TAG-Ethics & Climate Health) was established in December 2023 to advise and support this initiative.
Following the inaugural online meeting on 7 February 2024, members of the TAG-Ethics & Climate Health held their second meeting in person, in Geneva, Switzerland, on 6–7 May 2024. The main aim of the meeting was to gain the input of members in shaping a two-year programme of work that would lead to the development of products and guidance to support the mainstreaming of ethical thinking in climate and health policy and practice globally, regionally, nationally and locally.
