Dr Wendy Snowdon
Dr Wendy Snowdon is the Head of Mission and WHO Representative to Samoa, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau. She has been serving as the WHO Representative based in Apia, Samoa since 25 July 2025.
Dr Snowdon is a public health specialist with extensive experience working across the Pacific in health promotion and chronic disease prevention. Before she was appointed as WHO Representative, Dr Snowdon was the Country Liaison Officer for the WHO Office in Kiribati from 2021 to 2025. From 2015 to 2021, Dr Snowdon worked in the WHO’s Division of Pacific Technical Support in Fiji, leading the Pacific Noncommunicable Diseases and Health through the Life-course team. This involved providing technical support in noncommunicable disease (NCD) risk factor reduction, NCD management and surveillance, health promotion, and related areas. Dr Snowdon joined the WHO in 2014 as a technical officer for NCD surveillance.
From 2009 to 2014, Dr Snowdon was the inaugural Coordinator for the Pacific Research Centre for the Prevention of Obesity and Noncommunicable Disease (C-POND) in Fiji, a collaborative research centre between Fiji National University (FNU) and Deakin University in Australia. Prior to this role, she worked at the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (now The Pacific Community) as part of the Lifestyle Health (NCD) team.
Dr Snowdon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Nutrition and Dietetics, a Master of Arts in Health Promotion & Health Education, a Master of Arts in International Public Health, and a PhD in Food Policy.
