Report of the Webinar on Experience sharing on preparedness and responseplans for maintenance of SRMNCAH services during thepandemic and beyond

Overview
Background
A webinar on emergency preparedness and response for the COVID-19 pandemic was organised by SEARO on April 19, 2022. The agenda for the webinar is in Annex 1. Approximately 112 participants joined on-line. The participants included programme managers responsible for reproductive, newborn, child , adolescent health and Ageing from the Ministries of Health of Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Timor Leste, relevant staff from UN agencies at regional and country level, staff of WHO Country Offices, SEARO staff from Health Systems Development (HSD), Health Emergency (WHE) and UHC/ Family Health (FGL) and MCA unit of WHO headquarters.
Objectives
The objectives of the webinar were:
General
To strengthen the linkages between RMNCAH , healthy ageing, health systems and emergency health action teams to ensure MNCAAH is a core element of the COVID-19 preparedness and response plan.
Specific objectives
- To reinforce awareness about the importance of including services for MNCAA populations as a core service in preparedness and response plan and share the indirect impact of disruption of MNCAAH and other essential services on mortality and morbidity among mothers and children and the elderly.
- To share the lessons from Member States on inclusion of RMNCAH and healthy ageing in preparedness and response plans.
- To improve the coordination in preparedness and response between MNCAAH teams with health systems and emergency health action teams in WHO Country Offices and respective departments in MOH.
