| Meeting report
Overview
Ensuring quality integrated primary health care is challenging across countries of the SouthEast Asia Region and globally. Several recent regional frameworks, including the Implementation Roadmap for Accelerating the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases in SouthEast Asia 2022–2030 and the Regional Strategic Roadmap on Health Security and Health System Resilience for Emergencies 2023–2027 highlight the importance of integration across disease programmes, essential public health functions and levels of care. Moreover, quality of care (including but wider than IPC and patient safety) is increasingly recognized as equally important as access in determining survival outcomes. The Lancet Commission on High Quality Health Systems estimated that currently 60% of the 8.6 million deaths from treatable conditions are attributable to poor quality care. Importantly, integration through ensuring service continuity and people-centeredness is a key determinant of quality.
