Global HIV, Hepatitis and STIs Programmes
The Department of Global HIV, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections Programmes leads the development and implementation of the global health sector strategy on the elimination of the diseases as public health threats.
Data help focus and guide public health interventions globally, within countries, locally, and where services are delivered to people. The WHO Department of Global HIV, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) Programmes focuses on people-centred data to improve prevention, testing and treatment services.
Strategic information drives effective public health action and planning, directing services and resources where they are needed. WHO coordinates:
- strategic information guidelines
- global reporting on HIV, viral hepatitis and STIs
- monitoring and evaluation systems
- standards and technical support to WHO regions and countries
- critically, the use of data to improve people-centred services.
