WHO issues recommendations on the composition of influenza vaccines twice a year – February for the northern hemisphere and September for the southern hemisphere. These recommendations, developed based on GISRS surveillance and through expert consultations, guide national regulatory agencies and pharmaceutical companies in the development, production, and licensing of seasonal influenza vaccines.
