The Division of Epidemiology, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Field Epidemiology Training

The Division of Epidemiology, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, which hosts Thailand’s Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) has been designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre (WHO CC) for Field Epidemiology Training. 

On 3rd February 2015, Dr. Masaya Kato from WHO SEARO presented a plaque reflecting the designation of the Division of Epidemiology as a WHO CC to Dr. Wichan Bhunyakitikorn, Director, Division of Epidemiology and Dr. Phanthanee Thitichai, Director, Thailand FETP. In his remarks, Dr. Kato emphasized the importance of this designation in advancing regional and global efforts for disease prevention, detection and control.

Dr. Jos Vandelaer, WHO Representative to Thailand, also extended his congratulations, recognizing Thailand FETP’s longstanding contribution to public health and its potential to drive further progress in the region.

This recognition highlights Thailand FETP’s leadership in field epidemiology and its commitment to strengthening global health security. As a WHO Collaborating Centre, Thailand FETP will play a pivotal role in enhancing disease detection and response capabilities beyond its borders, particularly in the Asia-Pacific Region.
