- Prevent falls by checking a home for hazards that might trip up an individual
- Have medication reviewed on a regular basis
- Avoid using tobacco, alcohol and illegal drugs
- Know that some medications may cause problems if had with alcohol
- Get help, if needed, such as with cooking, cleaning and personal care
- Seek help if fearing violence from a partner, family, neighbour or others
