Go WHO-KDCA Fellowship Programme

The World Health Organization Regional Office for the Western Pacific (WPRO) is inviting young Korean health professional to the Go WHO-KDCA Fellowship programme. This is a two/three-year on-the-job training programme for promising young Korean health professionals with technical capacity to provide practical work experience so that they may contribute to global health. The programme will be composed of the following components: (1) pre-deployment induction and orientation at the Regional Office in Manila, Philippines; (2) deployment and practical work experience at a WHO country office in the Region; and (3) debriefing at the Regional Office. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) of the Republic of Korea fully sponsors this programme.

The following posts are open for applications. Candidates may apply to one of the following posts:

  1. Health Emergency and Korea related work (Mongolia)
  2. Vaccine Preventable Diseases Prevention and Control & Immunization (Viet Nam)
  3. Health Emergency (Philippines)

Eligibility criteria common to all two posts:

  • National of the Republic of Korea
  • Education: Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, infectious diseases/or medicine, or a related discipline from a university. Plus, a minimum of three years of work experience in the relevant thematic area of the posts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

The fellow will be recruited through document screening and interview.  His/her responsibilities will commence from May 2025 in Manila, the Philippines.

Benefit package for Go WHO fellows:

  • Monthly stipend of US$7000 for the duration
  • Flight tickets as follows:
    • Hometown in the Republic of Korea to Manila
    • Manila to Country Office duty station
    • Country Office duty station to Manila
    • Manila to hometown in the Republic of Korea
  • Reimbursement of health insurance throughout the assignment
