Water and sanitation technologies for health-care facilities: selecting options for adoption and scale-up in the Western Pacific Region

Overview

Access to clean water and safe sanitation services in health-care facilities is fundamental for public health, economic progress and delivery of quality health care.

The WHO Asia-Pacific Centre for Environment and Health in the Western Pacific Region has published guidance to support informed decision-making on water and sanitation technologies in the region’s health-care facilities. The guidance is based on a review of current and emerging technologies and consultation with Member State stakeholders in the region on selecting the most appropriate designs. The publication also includes principles for improving water and sanitation systems, emphasizing climate resilience through design adaptations. This will be an important resource for enhancing health-care services while improving health outcomes for populations in the Western Pacific Region.
