Outreach and dissemination
Clear and purposeful communication is essential to ensuring that evaluation contributes meaningfully to WHO's work. By sharing findings in a timely and accessible way, evaluation helps strengthen accountability, foster learning, and demonstrate the Organization's impact.
The Evaluation Office works to ensure that evaluations are visible and understood, both within WHO and by external audiences. This includes supporting technical teams in identifying key messages linked to evaluation findings and management responses, helping to ensure that communication supports follow-up actions and strategic planning.
Supporting evaluation use through targeted products
To help make evaluation findings more accessible and actionable, the Evaluation Office has developed a range of communication tools and formats, including:
- webinars to share insights and foster discussion on how evaluations are used;
- tailored dissemination materials developed as part of each evaluation to support engagement;
- policy briefs, infographics and web stories that summarize key findings and recommendations;
- an interactive dashboard that brings together all evaluations and tracks follow-up;
- a newsletter highlighting recent evaluations and upcoming events;
- training materials and learning forums to support staff and partners involved in evaluation; and
- short videos that present evaluation findings in a clear, engaging format to support action.
Channels and audiences
Evaluation findings are shared across a range of WHO platforms, including the website, intranet, Member States Portal, and social media. Audiences include staff, leadership, Member States, donors, implementing partners, civil society, academics and the media.
Communication materials are developed in coordination with the Department of Communications (DCO) and other teams to ensure consistency with WHO's wider outreach and strategic messaging. The aim is to embed evaluation in the Organization's communication, ensuring that evidence and learning are at the heart of WHO's work.
