Bhutan’s National Action Plan for Health Security (NAPHS) Workshop

3 March 2026
Highlights
Paro, Bhutan

Every day, we hear about health emergencies unfolding around the world — and sometimes closer to home. The next pandemic is not a question of if, but when. Preparation is not optional — it’s essential. In September 2025, the Ministry of Health, in partnership with the World Health Organization, conducted the Joint External Evaluation (JEE). More than 20 international experts joined our national experts across sectors to review 19 key areas of Bhutan’s health security system. The result? A clear picture of where we are strong, where we need to improve, and what practical steps we must take to build a more resilient system.

Now, we are turning commitment into action. From 3–5 March 2026 in Paro, nearly 50 participants from government agencies, uniformed services, and civil society are working together to advance Bhutan’s National Action Plan for Health Security (NAPHS). The presence of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at the opening of this three-day workshop reflects strong partnership and shared commitment to this important national priority.

Together, we are strengthening preparedness, protecting lives, and building a safer, more resilient Bhutan for the future.
