WHO is working closely with the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Bhutan as the country prepares for the Joint External Evaluation (JEE) in June 2025 — a rigorous and collaborative process to assess and strengthen national capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to public health emergencies.
As part of the preparation organized by MoH, over 60 national experts gathered in Paro this week from 15-17 April 2025 for a pre-JEE workshop to review Bhutan’s performance across the JEE core indicators. This internal review is a crucial step in identifying strengths, pinpointing gaps, and developing targeted actions to build a resilient and responsive health system.
The outcomes of this national assessment will be peer-reviewed by international experts during the main JEE mission in June 2025. Together, we aim to enhance Bhutan’s readiness and safeguard public health for all.
