Kathmandu, Bagmati Province – In a step towards strengthening the subnational Measles-Rubella (MR) laboratory at B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, WHO Nepal handed over MR ELISA reader and washer to the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL). This advanced equipment will enhance laboratory-based surveillance activities for MR enabling faster and more accurate testing. The timely results will provide critical evidence to support the MR elimination program under the National Immunization Program. WHO will now provide ongoing supportive supervision, technical guidance and feedback to ensure effective laboratory testing and surveillance at the subnational level. The handover is part of WHO’s support to bolster Nepal’s efforts in achieving the goal of MR elimination by 2026.
