Kathmandu, Bagmati Province – The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), in collaboration with the WHO Country Office for Nepal, organized a policy dialogue focused on strengthening basic health services. Over 70 representatives from the MoHP, National Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, federal and provincial ministries, health offices, health facilities and hospitals, municipalities, Health Insurance Board, professional councils, health development partners, consumers’ forum and other key stakeholders were in attendance. Following presentations and an expert panel discussion, the speakers emphasized the responsibilities and accountability of stakeholders with key suggested policy and programmatic directions to enhance quality basic health services delivery, with systemic integrated approach of primary health care, to accelerate universal health coverage (UHC). WHO reaffirmed its commitment to support the Government of Nepal to ensure inclusive and equitable quality basic health-care services to advance UHC.
