Surkhet, Karnali province - The Health Service Directorate of Karnali Province organized a program to share findings from Health Facility Assessment using the Health Resources and Services Availability Monitoring System (HeRAMS) with support from WHO Country Office for Nepal. This tool, an essential component of emergency preparedness and response, supports countries with the standardization and continuous collection, analysis and dissemination of information on the availability of essential health services and resources down to the point of service delivery, and was used to assess 83 health facilities including temporary facilities following the November 2023 earthquake in the province. Thirty-four healthcare professionals including partners based in Karnali Province were informed about the impact on facilities, with real-time data aiding decision-makers in identifying service gaps. Discussions centered on the findings’ utilization, tool's expansion, accessibility and future use, particularly in post-disaster contexts. The initiative was financially supported by WHO SEARO’s Regional Health Emergency Fund (SEARHEF) and the Contingency Fund for Emergencies (CFE).
