Medical Camp Kit handed over in Phidim Municipality, Koshi Province, following the devastating September 2024 floods and landslides

Panchthar, Koshi province – WHO Country Office for Nepal handed over a Medical Camp Kit (MCK) to Phidim Municipality, Koshi Province, on 16 April to support the restoration of essential health services disrupted by the September 2024 floods and landslides. The MCK, deployed upon the request of the provincial government based on the Health Resources and Services Availability Monitoring System (HeRAMS) assessment through the Ministry of Health and Population, serves as an Alternate Care Site (ACS) to Lali Kharka Health Post, which sustained significant damage. Designed to maintain access to essential health services while damaged facilities are being rehabilitated, the MCK enables uninterrupted delivery of healthcare through specialized tents equipped for outpatient consultations, maternal health services, laboratory diagnostics and medical storage. An Interagency Emergency Health Kit (IEHK) was also provided to address the urgent health needs of up to 10 000 people for a three-month period. This initiative, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office, contributes to strengthening Nepal’s capacity for emergency health response and resilience in the face of disasters.
