Kavrepalanchowk, Bagmati province – WHO Country Office for Nepal handed over a panel-based Medical Camp Kit (MCK) to Roshi Rural Municipality, Bagmati Province, to support the restoration of essential health services disrupted by the September 2024 floods and landslides. This is the second panel-based MCK of its kind in Nepal. The MCK also follows the earlier deployment of a non-panel-based MCK in Phidim Municipality, Koshi Province, with both facilities established to ensure the continuity of essential health services in flood-affected areas. The climate-resistant MCK, deployed upon the request of the provincial government based on the Health Resources and Services Availability Monitoring System (HeRAMS) assessment through the MoHP, serves as an Alternate Care Site to Roshi Basic Health Post, which sustained significant damage during the floods. Durable and equipped with essential medical infrastructure, it includes dedicated spaces for outpatient consultations, maternal health services, laboratory diagnostics, medical storage, and is supported by a solar power system to ensure uninterrupted services. An Interagency Emergency Health Kit (IEHK) was also provided to address the urgent health needs of up to 10 000 people for three months. This initiative, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office, contributes to strengthening Nepal’s capacity for emergency health response and resilience in the face of disasters.
