Consultative workshop to develop National Strategy for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) held

18-19 June | Kathmandu, Bagmati Province - The Nursing and Social Security Division, Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), with support from WHO Country Office for Nepal, held a two-day consultative workshop to develop the national strategy for infection prevention and control (IPC). The draft strategy was shared with over 40 participants, including policymakers from the MoHP and Provincial Ministry of Health, provincial health directorates and training centers, representatives from Nepal Nursing Council hospitals and academia. Their feedback was collected for further finalization of the strategy. As aligned with the International Health Regulations 2005, WHO will continue to support the MoHP to finalize and implement the strategy which will support to strengthen IPC program; enhance collaboration among healthcare institutions and policymakers; ensure consistency in IPC practices and capacity-building initiatives; reduce cost associated with poor IPC practice; and create a safer environment for patients and healthcare workers which is essential for quality healthcare delivery.
