20 March | Kathmandu, Bagmati Province – The Department of Drug Administration (DDA), Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), in collaboration with WHO Nepal and FHI 360, organized a two-day training on 18-19 March 2025 to improve tracking of antimicrobial use in Nepal. The training, aimed at empowering local pharmaceutical manufacturers and importers, focused on improving the tracking and reporting of antimicrobial use data. More than 100 participants learned how to use a standardized WHO Antimicrobial Consumption (AMC) Excel template, a tool for collecting and reporting data related to antimicrobial use. Trained officials from DDA guided them through the process with hands-on exercises to ensure accurate data entry. This training will help support Nepal to submit reliable and accurate antimicrobial use data to the WHO Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (GLASS)-AMC platform, contributing to global antimicrobial resistance surveillance efforts. WHO will continue to assist the DDA in improving AMU data reporting, further strengthening Nepal's role in global surveillance of antimicrobial resistance.
