Kathmandu, Bagmati province - WHO and UNICEF, with support from WaterAid, organized a one-day workshop attended by over 50 participants, which included national and international officials focused on hand hygiene systems in community settings. Data collected from national workshops conducted as part of developing global guidelines on hand hygiene in community settings within the 10 Champion Country Working Groups, including Nepal, were shared in the workshop and analyzed by participants. Further discussions were held to gather final recommendations for the global guidelines, expected to be published by the end of 2024. WHO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Water Supply, will continue to support to refine the global guidelines and publish a national framework to enhance hand hygiene practices in community settings. The workshop is also expected to be instrumental in the endorsement of the drafted national roadmap for Hand Hygiene for All, which is waiting to be approved by the Government of Nepal.
