
Webinar: COVID-19 in children

Background
COVID-19 pandemic has been a new challenge on the health system in the countries and it is likely to be continued as an important factor for disruption of essential health and nutrition services for women, children, adolescents and elder people across the world. In addition to direct and indirect effects across the life course, the COVID-19 pandemic poses numerous risks of interruption to essential interventions for prevention, promotion and treatment, and quality of care across the world.
A series of technical webinars has been organized by WHO SEARO with the collaboration of the Indian Institute of Public health Gandhinagar (IIPHG) to share and discuss health issues covering the life-course during the COVID-19 pandemic. Eminent global and regional experts and program officers from ministries of health in the region is invited to share the global, regional and national evidence, strategies, and experience on some of these issues.
The webinar
The first webinar in the series was on “COVID-19 in children”. The webinar covered discussions on epidemiology, clinical presentation, and management of pediatric COVID-19 cases and the importance of setting up hospital registries in the country to understand the clinical profile & outcomes of pediatric COVID-19 in South East Asia.
Objectives
The objective of this webinar was to help standardize the case management and contribute to the quality of care and a better understanding of the COVID-19.
