Vaccine Prioritization (CAPACITI)
The Country-led Assessment for Prioritisation on Immunisation (CAPACITI) project aims to strengthen the ability of LMICs to evaluate immunisation options according to their priorities and programme context, both for national immunisation programme decisions and to inform vaccine supply, research and development.
The CAPACITI decision-support tool
The decision-support tool has been developed for national immunisation programmes to prioritise among multiple immunisation products, services, or strategies. It allows a committee to combine evidence and different stakeholder views to come to a legitimate and credible recommendation. Examples of questions that may be addressed using the decision-support tool include:
- Which vaccine do we introduce first: PCV, HPV or rotavirus?
- Which districts do we prioritise for phased introduction?
- Which rotavirus vaccine product should we choose?
- Do we introduce controlled temperature chain (CTC) delivery for birth dose hepatitis B vaccination? Under which scenarios?
The decision-support tool consists of a comprehensive set of steps from articulating the decision question and convening stakeholders, to identifying decision criteria and deliberating the evidence to come to a recommendation and write a policy brief.
