Modelling has played an increasingly important role in informing decisions around immunization strategy, policy and programs. As a simple representation of complex reality, models have been used to integrate data and evidence from different domains to estimate, project or forecast health and economic outcomes of vaccination, under a variety of scenarios and assumptions, to respond to pertinent questions.

IAI unit’s the Value of Vaccines, Economics and Modelling (VoV) team leads the technical work in modelling based on the following priorities:

1. Coordinate the generation of modelled estimates to inform the Immunization Agenda 2030 and other global level strategies
2. Bring together experts to advise on modelling methods and evidence to inform immunization policy at the global level through IVIR-AC and SAGE Working Group subgroup on impact modelling
3. Collaborate with country, regional and global partners to increase capacity for generating and using modelled evidence for policy and programmatic decisions in low- and middle-income countries
