29-31 May and 9-14 June | Lalitpur, Bagmati Province - The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), held a three-day leprosy training for basic health facility staff (29-31 May) and a clinical training for medical officers (9-14 June) at Anandaban Hospital with support from The Leprosy Mission Nepal and WHO Country Office for Nepal. 23 paramedics and 25 medical officers from leprosy-endemic districts and medical professionals from Patan Academy of Health Sciences and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital were trained in early leprosy diagnosis and management – key strategic interventions for the national leprosy elimination programme. Sensitization on public awareness and advocacy efforts to reduce stigma and discrimination associated with leprosy were also provided. WHO will continue to support the MoHP to achieve the national goal of interrupting leprosy transmission by 2030.
