WHO Workforce in Nepal

"WHO's work is about serving people, about serving humanity. Most importantly, it's about fighting to ensure the health of people is a basic human right." - Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General

WHO, Country Office for Nepal, supports and coordinates the national response towards health emergencies, promotion of well-being, prevention of disease, and expansion of access to health care.

The values of the WHO workforce furthermore reflect the principles of human rights, universality, and equity established in WHO’s Constitution as well as the ethical standards of the Organization.

This year, 2021 has also been designated as the International Year of Health and Care Workers (YHCW) in appreciation and gratitude for their unwavering dedication in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. WHO is launching a year-long campaign, under the theme – Protect. Invest. Together.  It highlights the urgent need to invest in health workers for shared dividends in health, jobs, economic opportunity, and equity.

We are calling on actions to ensure that our health and care workforces are supported, protected, motivated, and equipped to deliver safe health care at all times, not only during COVID-19. We call for additional investments in health and care workers.
