- It is the role of the World Health Organization (WHO) to set global standards for health
- WHO works with other United Nations agencies and a lot of partners to improve health, including to:
- Gather evidence on new ways to improve people’s health
- Share information and ideas on health, such as with governments, health workers and the public
- Give technical and financial help to countries when asked for
- Provide help to countries when it is needed in health emergencies
- Agreed procedures govern how this help is delivered
- Make sure international law is upheld, including for human rights
- Encourage people and organizations to be part of discussions to do with health, such as on health policy
- Give information, support and services for health in a form that people can easily understand and relate to
