Third Pacific Health Ministers Meeting

The Third Pacific Health Ministers Meeting was held in Koror, Republic of Palau on 17–19 March 1999. The meeting was hosted by the Government of the Republic of Palau with support from WHO and the Pacific Community (SPC). The ministerial meeting was preceded by a meeting of the directors of health.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the health ministers to focus on the Healthy Islands vision as a unifying theme for health promotion and protection in the Pacific, as well as review progress made in implementing the Healthy Islands initiatives. The ministers also discussed important health issues in the Pacific, including human resources for health, pharmaceuticals, traditional medicine, noncommunicable diseases and health information.
