Departmental update

8 August | Kathmandu, Bagmati province - WHO handed over 66 high-quality hand-compression sprayers and spare parts to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division under the Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population, to support the urgent response to potential dengue outbreaks in Nepal. Dengue continues to be a global threat to public health and on May 2024, WHO assessed the overall risk at the global level as high. This equipment is essential for indoor residual spraying (IRS), a proven and effective method to control the spread of vector-borne diseases, such as dengue, malaria and kala-azar. This support is a crucial step towards Nepal’s efforts for dengue control and elimination of kala-azar and malaria and is made possible by the Contingency Fund for Emergencies (CFE).
