Gulmi Hospital launches Electronic Medical Records system

Gulmi, Lumbini province - Gulmi Hospital in Lumbini Province has modernized their Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system on 14 February. This initiative, supported by WHO Country Office for Nepal, will operationalize and improve the accuracy, efficiency and interoperability of health facility data, reduce reliance on paper-based processes and minimize errors. It also enables real-time tracking of patient records and strengthens disease surveillance capabilities within the health facility. During the launch, officials emphasized the system’s critical role in advancing evidence-based decision-making, ensuring equitable access to healthcare and facilitating rapid emergency responses. Customized with WHO’s technical expertise to cater the needs of Nepal by utilizing an open-source platform, the EMR system will also enhance Nepal’s health system resilience by optimizing resource allocation and facilitating the integration of data with national health databases. These efforts align with Nepal's broader goals of fostering sustainable development and driving post-pandemic recovery. This initiative is supported by The Pandemic Fund.
