The Climate-Controlled BubbleTuk | 2055

How might we adapt to climate change?

Climate-resilient health facilities  |  Resilient communities, societies and health systems for health security

The BubbleTuk is a three-wheeled Tuk-Tuk style all-electric micromobility vehicle. A large, clear bubble-like roof, windshield and window provide the occupants with a safe environment, free of air-borne pollution and extreme heat.

Sunscreen | 1932

Although various forms of sun protection have existed for thousands of years, the first modern sunscreen was invented in 1932 to protect the skin from damage caused by the sun’s UV rays. It is now a staple in many people’s homes and daily routines.

Sovan, a local tuk-tuk driver, takes pride in his BubbleTuk. In 2055, the city transformed its iconic fleet of tuk-tuks into BubbleTuks. These upgraded vehicles feature a transparent, airtight bubble made of advanced materials, providing a climate and pollution-controlled environment for passengers and drivers. Sovan explains to a visiting couple how the bubble's filtration system captures pollutants and processes them, before expelling fresh and clean air back into the environment. This innovative feature not only makes the ride more comfortable but also helps reduce overall air pollution. The BubbleTuk represents a step forward in sustainable urban transport, combining traditional charm with modern technology to improve the city's air quality.
