Old First Aid Kit | 1949

Over the years, various specialized kits have been produced to target specific emergencies, ranging from cholera kits to pneumonia kits, evolving to meet the diverse needs of health crises around the world. See a first aid kit from 1949 as an example of these emergency kits.

In 2091, Emergency Response Kits (ERKs) are still essential for various environments, especially with new space colonies emerging. The ERK for Space Travel is deployed by the WHO Space Division and is crucial for these settlements. Dr Aisha, the chief medical officer at a space colony, welcomes newly arrived residents. She demonstrates the Space Travel ERK, explaining its vital components including a scanner for exo-viruses, explaining, “This ensures we detect any harmful extraterrestrial pathogens early.” Next, she shows the synthesizer for medicines, which can produce necessary antiviral or antibiotic treatments on the spot. Dr Aisha then presents the anti-radiation inhaler, noting, “This provides immediate protection against harmful cosmic rays,” and the hydrogen extractor, which supplies clean water and energy from the environment. The Space Travel ERK exemplifies humanity’s resilience and adaptability in space.
